
Linda Jean Córdova Carter aka Lynda Carter aka Wonder Woman, will be finally getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 3rd 2018, says CBR.
Ever since she was crowned Miss World America in 1972, Carter has remained a fixture in American Pop Culture. Her performance on ABC and CBS’ Wonder Woman was such a staple of American pop culture that even my own Jamaican-born mother knows the theme music and can do a fantastic transformation style spin.
I remember watching reruns of the show on TVLand and feeling in awe of Carter’s grace and beauty, while also feeling a sense of strength. Yes, she’s petite and in a tiny bathing suit, but that didn’t make her any less powerful to me. Before I knew anything about how the Male Gaze worked, I just saw a woman who was so powerful she didn’t need armor or shields. Only her own force of will. It was beautiful and it was amazing.
